Recently our Government decided to increase the petrol price by 41% in line with the soaring global fuel prices. The effect of the price increase was immediately felt the very same day of the price increase announcement.
A few days later I was at our local supermarket chain and was shocked to find that almost everything had increased in price. You would have thought that the management would have waited for new stocks to arrive before increasing the prices as the old stocks were purchased at a lower cost but no…it’s a business. They took the opportunity to hike the price and make a bigger margin while they could.
Food prices have been on a steady incline since I stopped work last year in June. There were small increases in petrol prices that caused the majority of price increase for our daily needs. Global shortage of rice had caused the prices of rice to double a few weeks before the petrol increase. The government also decided to remove the control price for chicken a week before the petrol increase. I used to buy pork in last year for RM14 per kg, today it costs RM17 a kilo. Butter, cheese and spaghetti have also not been spared with increases of up to 80%. A 12 slice packet of cheese cost RM5.99 a year ago, today I have to pay RM7.99.
Since we need to spend more money, do you think that salaries have increased in line with the higher cost of living? The answer is a big NO. Companies are also trying to reduce costs and keeping salary increments to the minimum and telling employees that if they are not happy with their meagre 5% increase, they should take a hike.
Let’s face the reality of surviving in this world of rising costs. There are only 2 things that you can do to keep afloat, cut costs or make more money.
To make more money you either get a new higher paying job or start finding ways to make money online. Online earnings are currently tax free in many countries, take advantage of this and start making an extra $100 a month. $100 a month is equivalent to RM330 which is enough to put food on the table for 3 weeks in my house, that’s 3 adults and 2 kids.
Making an extra $100 online is quite easy and there is no cost involved. Almost all households have at least one computer and internet access. All you need is an extra half an hour a day and you can make $20-$50 more a month, work at it for an hour and you may just make enough to pay your food bill for 3 weeks. A lot of people just complaint but they do nothing. The worst disease that one can have is INACTION.
Look at it this way 1 hour a day can make you an extra $100 a month. That is 30 hours for $100, you can’t even find a daily part time job that can pay you $3.33 an hour and lets you work from home and only for an hour a day.
All you need to do is chat with some people around the world in the 1 hour and that is going to help pay your bills. It can’t get easier than this… go to http://michellekhang.com/$100more.html
